Fashion On Film - The Millers

Sienna Miller (one of my all time favorite fashion icons) and her sister Savannah Miller have made a fashion flick for their Fall/Winter 2010-11 collection for Twenty8Twelve. It was directed by photographer Angelo Pennetta (who has done a number of editorials and campaigns for TopShop) and is totally worth checking out. Perhaps Sienna was inspired by Andy Warhol's Edie Sedgwick films and decided to go forth with this great piece highlighting their collection.

The line itself is very 70s rocker and Joplinesque which I am loving and the graininess of the film adds to that vintagey feel.

As for Pennetta's direction of the video, he lends his sparse, edgy eye to the pic. (examples of his photos below)

I think it is time for me to do one of these fashion flicks.

STYLISH....SOCKS?

I have been sock free since I can even remember. I don't even like wearing them with gym shoes or in boots. And most of the time, since I get to partake in the California sunshine, I wear open-toed shoes. Therefore, I wasn't the biggest fan of the sock in heels look. I thought that the crazy Tokyo-urbanites could pull off the frilly-edged 3rd grader socks, but when it comes to trendy LA or elegant NY, I dismissed the trend.

Now, I am seeing more and more of it and wondering whether this is something just any girl can do and not just uber skinny-legged models. Paired with cute cardigans and girly blouses, I have switched sides and now am proud to say I am pro socks.

What do you guys think?

Velvet Ain't Simply Red Anymore

I remember growing up that I had this great velvet mini skirt with long fringe draping down to my ankles. It was the coolest piece I had growing up and actually the skirt still fits.

Time to take it out.
I'm loving the look of velvet for the upcoming fall. In colors like plums and lilacs but also daring electric blues and strawberry reds. Time to sport the soft alternative and layer it with different fringes, leathers and sequins. I'm loving the textured look for fall just like in the photo down below. It brings back that 70s Joplinesque vibe that I'm all about.

What I love even more about this outfit? The use of velvet in a JUMPSUIT. Oh, my heart is soaring!

LACEY GOOSEY

Lace is perhaps my favorite trend for the end of summer/beginning of fall. Usually used to fancy up any evening, lace is making a comeback for you lazy lace lovers. Now, you can totally dress down the look sporting it with a cute pair of sandals or wedges.

Sport the look at night for barhopping or romantic date nights and you'll be the belle of the ball! I love pairing the dainty patterns with chunky heels to give it some depth and don't shy away from colorful accents! The pink sunglasses in the photo are totally faboosh!

Take a look at the very chic lady in lace below. Her dress is very daring -- but for those of you who want something a little more conveniently covered-up, try getting a lace top or dress (Free People and Forever 21 have some great ones) and pairing it with a bandeau. Mix up trends and make it a floral bandeau for a cool overlapping of patterns.

Earring "attrape-reves"

DREAM CATCHERS. On your ears. How poetic. And so happeningly stylish.

These are my new favorite accessory that I am putting at the top of my shopping list. Very ethereal, they are the hippie must-have for fall.

THE SKINNY ON "THE SKINNY"

Not only do I appreciate the great style and affordability of Forever21, but now they have created a new quality fashion blog called The Skinny.

It's definitely worth adding to your bookmark, featuring articles on celeb fashion, the newest trends and linking them all to cheap thrills that you can instantly find off of their website. It's pretty artsy-tartsy for Forever21 and reminds me very much of Nylonmag.com (Nylon magazine's website)

And I'm loving the style diva choice of the moment: French actress/model Clemence Poesy, who epitomizes French effortless chic.
