Lana Turner 1940s Iconic

Everyone fully recognizes the flapper 20s, the poodle skirts of the 50s, the mod of the early + hippie love of the late 60s and the disco queen of the 70s. However, what defined the 1940s? Screen goddess Lana Turner, a beautiful blond who starred in films such as The Bad and The Beautiful and The Postman Always Rings Twice defined an era. Her most memorable look: the white ensemble featuring turban and short shorts in the latter film.

Here, Julie Rode is donning for DV Mode November 2010 the icon of the 40s: Lana Turner. She even sports the now back in style turban. The pant-suit has also retaken the 40s shape. And brings to mind other screen goddesses such as Katharine Hepburn and Lauren Bacall. The ruching on the very flowy suits and dresses as well as the neutral palette highlight the style of the time as does the classic fur collars.
